Helping adults gain literacy skills helps reduce poverty, improve public health, and advance human rights around the world. This initiative seeks to expand access to literacy services in a community by supporting social service agencies in adding sustainable adult literacy services to their existing offerings. ProLiteracy is active in 20 countries, working with a network of grassroots partner programs.
The majority of our high school equivalency students want to go to college. I try to convey to them that college is a place for them. We take one or two field trips during the year to other campuses, mostly to BMCC, CityTech, or Kingsborough… In my view, the most important message I give students about college is that this is a place for them.
